Dodgers desperately seeking trade partners

08:20 AM ET 06.20 | In the new era of expanded playoffs, having the means to take on players just isn't what it used to be. With new owners in place, the Dodgers say they are no longer under the economic hardships that prevented them from landing frontline pitcher CC Sabathia at the 2008 nonwaiver trade deadline. But the capacity to add to the team's payroll alone won't make deals happen. General Manager Ned Colletti says he has been on the phone with other GMs since the beginning of May, but has found the trade market slow to develop -- even more than in past seasons. He attributes that to the change in the playoff format, which has added an extra wild-card team in each league. "The second wild card has kept an extra eight or nine clubs in it," Colletti said.

OK, the Bosox will take Kemp for Youk straight up.

They still have the best record in baseball. What do they really need?

Finding a frontline pitcher won't come easy, they might want to look at a 2 or 3! That will also be expensive!

The Cards will trade with them. Kershaw for Jake Westbrook and our entire bullpen. An 8 for 1 deal, how can the Dodgers refuse?

A little more hitting power!!!

They only have 2 HR hitters (Kemp, Ethier) in their entire lineup. They certainly need more production from the 1st base position.

This is a good thing, more teams in a race for a playoff spot, more meaningful games in September.

Why do you put out an article with the GM asking the questions and turns around and answers his own questions.
