Harvin drama about more than money

08:04 AM ET 06.21 | The escalating drama that is Percy Harvin added another chapter Wednesday when Harvin was not on the field for a Vikings mini-camp session. [Harvin] wants to be traded. As Jerry Seinfeld would say, good luck with all that. Vikings general manager Rick Spielman said Wednesday, June 20, the team has no interest in trading Harvin. He can ask for a trade. He can even demand a trade and follow through on his threat to hold out once training camp starts. Here's the thing: He doesn't control the situation. The Vikings do. ... [The] Vikings don't have to acquiesce to Harvin and give him whatever is on his laundry list of wants. The word is, it's not just about money, and he has other issues with the Vikings. Spielman wouldn't say if it's a singular issue or issues.

The problem is playing for the Vikes. A team going no where.

And Harvin's not going anywhere, either. Seems like he should fit right in.

Harvin is getting bad advice from his agent, at least....

He seems to feel unwanted

Another wide receiver complaining about his dismal lot in life. What a surprise. It's enough to give you a migraine.

Sounds like FN drama to me.

Harvin Drama About More Than Money

No, it's not.

He still has 2 years left on his original contract, so not a lot of leverage there. Was the 23rd best receiver in terms of yardage last season, 27th the year before and 39th before that. So not really like he's a top 10 guy. He need to continue to play better (maybe hard with Vikings at the moment) and get a better contract when this one is done.

My client, William Percival Harvin, III, wishes to be traded from your sorry a## outfit. Also, in the unlikely event we do not get our way, then a huge raise on a new contract would be in order.

Regards, His Agent Joel Segal

P,S. Thank you for drafting William in the first round after he had tested positive for smoking weed at the combine.

Percy if you play hard this year, maybe they will give you an Osi Deal!

June 21, 2012  09:22 AM ET

#23 in terms of total yds, #95 in terms of yds/catch, #41 in terms of TDs, #3 in fumbles. But was #7 in yards after catch. Still I don't see this as a big deal deserving a new contract. Do understand wanting to go to a new team.

Usually when an athlete says it's not about the money, it's about the money.

I hope Harvin remembers that before he plays the "disrespect" card.

More money is the best pain medicine for all athletics. He needs to put some of the blame on himself and his agent for signing that 5 year contract. This is year 4 of 5.

June 21, 2012  09:37 AM ET

The way he is acting, I wouldn't trade for him or give him a big contract if I were GM of another team....

He can put more blame on himself for getting popped for smoking weed during the combine. The Vikes weren't stupid... they knew they could get a better deal with their first round draft pick because of that.

Percy was the #22 pick. This year at #13 WR Michael Floyd who signed a 5 year $10mill offer, so 2mill/year. Percy should be happy with his 5 year @ $14.5 mill.
