Packers' Shields on shaky ground

08:04 AM ET 06.21 | The clock may be ticking on Sam Shields in Green Bay. After taking a pretty big step back in his second season at nickel back, we hear [Shields] is far from being assured of a roster spot this coming season. The way we hear it, unless Shields greatly improves his tackling skills, which were feeble for the most part last season, and sheds his knack for peeking into the backfield, he could be in trouble with a host of challengers, led by newly re-signed Jarrett Bush, breathing down his neck at the nickel spot. In addition, both second-round rookie Casey Hayward and second-year pro Davon House, who has gotten noticeably bigger and stronger, could put added pressure on Shields.

Tackiling problems? The Cowboys are looking for you

If you can't make it in one of the worst defenses in the league, Sam, you'd better pull out that college diploma and start applying to basketweaving companies for a job.

The Packers D needs many fixes, starting with the secondary. Shields needs to go.

It seems that he has lost the desire to play. This sport has turn into a year around job. It is simple put out all the time or put out a call to another team, I have been cut.

Trade him to the Jets Revis can help him

Packers D will almost certainly improve this year, based on their draft, the fact that they were embarassed last year and the O was the reason they won 15 games, and they basically have nowhere to go but up.
