08:08 AM ET 06.21 | The Hornets flipped Emeka Okafor and Trevor Ariza to the Wizards on Wednesday, gaining the No. 46 pick in the draft and Rashard Lewis in return. Okafor is due $28 million over the next two seasons. Although Lewis is one of the highest paid players in the league, he has one-year remaining on his contract at that $23.7 million. Sources say the Hornets and Lewis are working on a buyout and Lewis likely won't play for the team this season. ... With the Hornets trading Okafor, they are more likely now to select a center with the 10th overall pick in next week's draft. One of the players they are targeting is North Carolina 7-foot center Tyler Zeller, who worked out for the Hornets are June 4.

Lewis still has something left in him.

QUOTE(#2):

Hmmmmm......taking 2 bigs? Do they really think that they can play professional ball with 2 rookie bigs?

They can play professional ball with two bigs, but can the two bigs make the team a playoff contender within the first few years? Highly doubtful.

Can someone tell me what the heck is going on?

1. If Lewis can be bought out for $13.7M (as reported by ESPN), why didn't the Wizards themselves buy him out and NOT take on 2 huge contracts back?

2. If Wizards did the trade to "aquire pieces", why would they want Okafur? Don't they already have a look-alike in Nene, who plays the same spot, and makes about the same money?

Good salary dump by Hornets. Stern must have held Wizards's GM by his balls to have him sign off on this.

Good trade for the wiz, don't know what the hornets were thinking. Now they have so many holes to fill n their roster. I agree with jgb they are going to not be a threat at all with two rookie bigs, all the bigs besides maybe drummund needs ti pack on the pounds. I think there are 4 to 5 bigs that will have an impact In the league but most will need a few years to put on weight and develop. They should of went for either lillard ( who probably won't be there at 10) or marshall (who probably will). If the hornets lose Gordon then game over for them for a long time.
