Time to deal King Felix?

08:16 AM ET 06.21 | To the consternation of many in the Pacific Northwest, perhaps Felix Hernandez, like Michael Pineda, may not be untouchable. Well, trading Felix for the right package still would make sense, given the Mariners' offensive deficiencies. But if the M's prefer, they can deal from a different position of strength, offering one or more of their big young arms for a hitter of comparable age and promise. Think the next Castro -- someone like Rangers Double-A shortstop Jurickson Profar or Orioles Double-A shortstop Manny Machado. ... If, a year ago at this time, I had suggested that the Mariners trade Pineda, the reaction surely would have been venomous. Well, how did that turn out? Pineda brought back [Jesus Montero].

You. Don't. Trade. Good/Great. Pitching. It always, always comes back to bite you.

Seattle is seller dwellers again this year in the AL West. Instead of treading pitchers for hitters maybe they need to get rid of the front office people who keep making dumb trade picks and trades. But good news Seattle fans someone is coming to take your place in the basement next year the Astos.

Seattle management should be building a team around this guy instead of thinking about trading him.

100% Agree.

Listen to offers. If the M's can get back a boatload of top prospects, think about it. But remember, prospects don't always turn out to be players. Felix is definitely a player.

Just like they traded Adam Jones...........I rest my case

Everbodys Gun Shy!!!

Adam Jones took years to develop. Big deal. Trade Felix for the right package and the M's might compete sometime this century.

Trade him to NYY for a player to be named later....trust us....

I agree, but this article doesn't say that Seattle's management is thinking of trading Hernandez, it says a sportswriter thinks they should consider it. sportswriters have been trying to trade Hernandez for the last 2 years. Here is the deal; he has a couple more years left on his contract. If, in his last season, it appears that Seattle can't re-sign him, they would probably consider moving him at the trade deadline. Until then he isn't going anywhere.

The Mariners are finally doing what they should have done a couple of years ago--clean out the unproductive veterans and call up the farm to see what they can do. Seager is a find, especially since he can play 2nd and 3rd; new hitting coach Chambliss has gotten young CF Saunders to stop worrying so much about strikeouts/walks and attack the ball aggressively, Ackley is solid at 2nd base, Carp & Liddi both look like they will hit in the majors, but have been sent to minors so they can play every day.

Seattle could Use some New Owners, preferably with enough smarts to get behind the City, Fans & Team! Never mind da Stadium, Give them a Team!

Seattle should trade Felix now while they can still get alot of value for him. All those innings are beginning to take their toll on him. His fastball velocity is way down this year and he's been getting lit up by bad teams all year long.
