08:22 AM ET 06.21 | The Big East may well be on the verge of taking another hit. Two sources in the Big 12 said Wednesday the possibility of Notre Dame moving its Olympic sports out of the Big East and into the Big 12 is becoming more and more likely. Speculation is growing among those sources that an announcement could come from South Bend before the end of the summer. As part of such a move, Notre Dame, which has a contract with NBC to televise its home football games through the 2015 season, would agree to play up to six football games against Big 12 competition (but most likely three or so to start with), sources tell Orangebloods.com. Notre Dame would maintain its independence in football ... for now.

When was the last time they won a football game?

So for non-football, they would be possibly announcing their engagement, but for football, they're only dating, and able to see other people.

This is a smart move (if it happens) on ND's part. Clearly the the Big East has slipped into 2nd Tier status. A school that values its image like ND does, cannot afford to be affilitated with the Big East.

As far as the football schedule, it sounds a lot like the current deal ND has with the Big East.

Good analogy...even for a gaduh!

This article fail to explain to us how the Big East was going to get hurt that bad by losing ND in basketball only.

Unreal. Just when college football get a four-team playoff, the domers are thinking of joining the Big 12 in everything but football because they think they are so special. This is not the 60's. The old goats in the NCAA and the conferences need to get some onions and tell ND to join a conference in football like everyone else. NO SPECIAL DISPENSATION FOR THE DOMERS!!!

ND will have to do this if it wants to be one of those 4 teams selected..

I think ND will eventually join the Big 12 for football. When their NBC contract expires, they will take advantage of the Big 12's rules regarding schools retaining tier 3 rights to negotiate their own version of the LHN. (NDN?)

Where are the Domers on this?

Still hung over from the meeting where they found out that they will travel to Waco, Iowa City, Manhattan KS, and Lubbick for road games in the future!
