Jagr's next stop: Calgary?

08:28 AM ET 06.21 | Jaromir Jagr, Calgary Flame. Sounds far-fetched, doesn't it? But, sometimes truth is stranger than fiction. The Flames may be a middle-of-the-pack NHL team -- maybe worse -- but for the first time in a few years, they will have all kinds of salary cap space to add a piece in the forward ranks, especially if Olli Jokinen is allowed to walk via free agency. The Flames signed Roman Cervenka this spring with the hopes he can skate on the top two lines, and that could be a reason Jagr -- who sits eighth on the NHL's all-time list with 1,653 regular-season points and 11th with 665 goals -- may be interested in coming to the Stampede City. Cervenka, 26, and Jagr were linemates a couple of seasons ago with Omsk of the KHL and had all kinds of success.

Wait. Thought he was staying in Philly? Whatever. Wouldn't surprise me.

Dumbest idea yet. Calgary is on the tried-and-true Toronto Maple Leafs path.

Somehow I can't see Jagr playing with a team that far away from the limelight.

No no, Jagr will take a hometown discount to stay with the Flyers. He doesn't care about money

Why does this sound far-fetched? Going somewhere strange for some money?--sounds right up his alley.

again, he took less to play with the Flyers last season, yeah money means something but as a vet he would rather play on a team that has a chance, and that he can fit in with. He wants to be on a top line and chose the Flyers over the Pens due to their top two stars both being left handed.
He chose the Flyers due to his chance to pad his soon to be HOF stats on a team that had a chance over teams that had better odds of winning a cup and willing to pay more. So yeah he was selfish but money and hometown... nope.

He took twice as much as the Pens were offering him if I recall correctly. No one was going to give him huge bucks to "see" how he would perform back at the NHL level.
With Sid in the line-up, they were favoured for a cup run, over the flyers. Sid was not 100% in the playoffs. I sure don't know what their funny lookin little goalie was on either.

Correct on this.
Correct on Fleury shyting the bed.
Whether or not Crosby was 100%, not sure. Not sure if we will ever know.

That's the way I remembered it. Flyers offered more $$$. Pens fans had more reason to hate on Jagr for "jilting them again.

He took less money according to Jagr. He said that after he was getting killed in the media, for turning down the Pens deal. He didn't go to the Flyers for any other reason then that. And there is nothing wrong with that. He went to the KHL for more money. More power to him. But please with the he took a discount or this wasn't about the money. With Jagr, it's always about the money. Playing on a line with either Geno or Sid would have padded his stats just the same.

1.3 Million more... but hey, if that was not worth it for the Pens to pay then don't get mad at Jagr...
Even if Jagr was lying when he said he had offers from NHL teams for more, there is no question that he could have made more playing in the KHL.
Nobody was 100 percent in the playoffs, Jagr played with a bad injury also, favored by who to win the cup? Players? Coaches? Owners?
