Jack Del Rio? Really? And you expect improvement?

Practicing against Peyton's offense should at least give them some experience. If they don't step up, though, they will just be more experienced at "being burned."

I don't know DD. I like Del Rio and think that he may be a far more effective DC than HC. And, teamed with Fox, Denver should see some improvement. It isn't as though he's dealing with a lousy D to start with.

Not posting defensive plays on twitter should also improve the D.

Could be he's another Wade Phillips, I suppose, but his years at Jax were underwhelming.

I agree with you, LSN. Del Rio became a head coach for a reason. He just couldn't get that QB position figured out down there in Jacksonville.

Denver's defense was pretty good last year, the offense was sluggish. this story leads one to believe the D was the problem.

But under John Fox here in Carolina he had one of the best defenses in the league..thats what got him the HC job in Jax.

The AFC West will be interesting to follow, at the start of the season anyway. Denver should be obviously improved, there's a new regime in Oakland, the Chiefs could start well if everyone is healthy to begin with, and the Chargers... well I guess it all depends on how long it takes the Chargers to start firing on all cylinders.

I like how Peyton gets credit for everything...even the defense will be better because of the magic of Peyton. I like the guy and all, but he is only one player, not an army

I guess one way he helps a defense is that he's not prone to multiple three-and-out series. Give the defense more time to rest, and they won't be completely gassed early in games.

Actually, Denver's defense was below average. They ranked 20th in yards allowed and 24th in points allowed, while giving up more than 40 points a league-leading 5 times, including the Patriots playoff win.

Undoubtedly, he also won't be restricted by Fox's and McCoy's ultra-conservative play calling which limited Tebow to limited passing attempts on mostly third-and-long situations until the Broncos had no choice but to open things up in the 4th quarter.

I think most people tend to overrate Denver's defense last year. Just about Any team with a good offense destroyed them.
