Mixed reviews for Tannehill

08:08 AM ET 06.22 | Joe Philbin had Ryan Tannehill take over the Miami offense on Thursday, and, by most accounts, the rookie did offer some good moments. There also was some bad. Tannehill threw two interceptions, and at times had trouble with his timing, leading to drops from a few receivers (there were nearly 80 from his receivers during his time at Texas A&M). But it was the interceptions Philbin didn't like. ... Although [Matt Moore and David Garrard] will presumably remain ahead of Tannehill in the pecking order, Philbin warned, "it's not fair to say" Tannehill won't be ready to play this season. "We like his maturity. We like his poise. We like his intelligence," Philbin said of Tannehill.

Not ready to be the starter. That's to be expected. Moore did well last season in several games. Let's not go changing things right away.

Matt Moore was one of the few bright spots in the Miami offense last year. Why not show some confidence in the guy? David Garrard hasn't played in over a year, he's coming off an injury and he's 34 years old. Tannehill is a rookie who probably went too high in the draft. And they're going to threaten to replace Moore with one of them?

The real reason they're not read to give up on Tannehill is his hot wife.

Considering where they drafted Tannehill one would expect Philbin to say nothing less of him.

To say something else would suggest to everyone that they made a poor decision choosing him that high in the draft. That just won't happen. It'll be on the field where the decision will be made as to weather it was a good or bad pick.

He's Young going to make mistakes and Matt Moore is a Better Player!!!

I don't think anyone in Miami gives a flap about this thread today anyway.

Apparently they didn't like his arm or decision making. Without those two elements, you've got exactly what third stringers are made of.

The Dolphins aren't going to do much this season anyway, so might as well put him in for some on the job training. If he plays well that would be a bonus, otherwise they'll be able to draft some help for him in 2013

I happen to like Moore. Don't be foolish and throw him in there right away. Let him learn under knowledgeable veterans for a few years. It worked wonders for Rodgers

Lets wait til they actually u know...play games before we criticize the kid. But I guess it gives us threads during the sports-less summer months. (not counting MLB)

It is fair to say that with the 2 other choices they have to choose from he probably will see playing time this year.

June 22, 2012  11:23 AM ET

It's OK............the 'Fins will probably get the #1 pick in the next draft.

June 22, 2012  12:28 PM ET

Go with Moore - he's got the savvy and he knows how to find the end zone.

So this is Miami's winning team for the year?

Exactly. Moore played pretty well down the stretch last season. Gotta be patient.

I guess this is what happens when you draft a wide receiver to play QB.
