08:10 AM ET 06.22 | Plaxico Burress, in the midst of a media tour while looking for a job, delivered a few more digs at the Jets Thursday. Burress appeared on ESPN's "First Take" and was asked if he believes Sanchez is the quarterback to lead the Jets to a Super Bowl. "They just paid him, so I think they believe he is," Burress said, referring to Sanchez's contract extension in March. Burress was then pressed whether he believes Sanchez is good enough to get the Jets to the Super Bowl. "I think the defense will," he said, taking a shot at Sanchez in the process. "I think they definitely have a Super Bowl defense." Burress spent one disappointing season with the Jets, registering career lows for a full season in catches and receiving yards.

The obligatory Jets thread. Why should we be surprised by this or its origination? I'm not sure if this is Plax trying to be professional and not directly say they suck but maybe he knows that we'll see it here soon enough.

Plax was part of that disappointing offense last year. His lack of production is why he's an unemployment statistic right now. His lack of enthusiasm for Sanchez, though, is something most of us will agree with, like....

The Jets Suck!

I'm Debbie Does, and I approve this message.

What the media calls a jab at Sanchez reads like an honest assessment of the QB situation to me.

That's kind of the way I read it, Bishop. It almost read like he was trying to avoid saying something negative.

the FELON taking a shot at someone.... I guess that beats taking a shot at YOURSELF.... Plax will be known for being a decent player with very little brain mass... or at least FUNCTIONING brain mass...

What a sad state of affairs when posters get put in the position of defending Plax from the press.

FN members are fair and balanced.

Plax in the middle of a media tour looking for a job criticizing his former employee ....usually doesn't bode well in finding a new job.....

Plax is a dope!!

June 22, 2012  08:52 AM ET

He had to take a jab at him because he could hit him with a shot.

June 22, 2012  08:55 AM ET

They had to go with Plax, otherwise today's JESTS thread would be identical to the Bills thread, though with different players. Whether they admit it or not, there is a QB competition for the number 2 slot between Sanchize and Tebow...There truly *is* no No. 1, they just refuse to admit it.

June 22, 2012  08:56 AM ET

Here's What Plax Has NOT LEARNED! The measure of who we are is Measured by what we do with WHAT WE HAVE! Coach: Vince Lombardi........so far based on Talent it's, Sanchez 1- Plax 0!!!

You aren't suggesting that Rex was, how shall I put this, careless with the truth? Say it ain't so Orf, not Rex!!

Instead of putting his foot in his mouth, maybe he could put his gun in his mouth next time?

June 22, 2012  09:21 AM ET

For the life of me, I still don't understand why they signed Tebow. Look, I like the guy and want to see him be successful. I think he does good things for the image of the league. However, he has questionable skills at the QB position. Despite that, there will be QB controversy in NY this year after Sanchez puts up a sub par game.

June 22, 2012  09:22 AM ET

Well I guess it's better to shoot off your mouth than to shoot off your leg.
Honestly though I should cut Plax some slack. After all he never really harmed anyone but himself. I have an in-law that's accidentally shot more holes in his house than Elmer Fudd, and he's a preacher and is married to a judge.

Damn, that's pretty harsh, especially from a Giants fan.
