08:11 AM ET 06.22 | This weekend looms large, with big men, in Philadelphia. After the Sixers take a look at Kentucky point guard Marquis Teague on Friday at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, Saturday will be dedicated to taking a look at guys that this draft is believed to be heavy-leaden with. Big men. Beginning Saturday morning, the Sixers will bring in 6-11 Arnett Moultrie (Mississippi State), 7-0 Tyler Zeller (North Carolina), 6-11 Perry Jones (Baylor), 6-10 John Henson (North Carolina) and 6-10 Andrew Nicholson (St. Bonaventure). There is a higher probability that if the Sixers keep the 15th pick in the draft and don't trade it that, of the players they have brought in, there eventual pick could come from this group.

They're going to need alot more than a rook big to make a strong push to contend

Wonder if Sixers will improve from this year or regress.

The Sixers are in need of a back to basket banger and rebounder to take Brand's spot eventually. This must also mean that they we may not sign Hawes and have to have a backup plan. We should be back in the playoffs as the east playoff spots are up for grabs. Miami, Indy are probably front runners. Chicago probably still makes the playoffs with Rose missing some time Knicks should make it. The rest is in flux too many unknown variables Howard, D Will, Boston and the big three

I think if they can land Zeller great otherwise take Fab Melo if he's on the board

Probably the 2 best options for this team..maybe Henson bc they need interior defense. It also depends IF they finally decide to trade Iggy. Of course that's been speculation for about the last 3 summers so we'll see

They made the 2nd round.......they didnt regress........But this team, as constituted hit their max

So the logic would dictate that you blow the team up, get what you can from trading players like Iggy at their peak, and start over?

Never thought Indy would be second in the East.
Good for them.

Agree with all of this. I was at the Sixers-Lakers game and I left that arena convinced the Sixers were going to be one of the best teams in the East.

They really do need a big man to crash the boards. Moultrie should be a good fit if he falls. He seems convinced he will go earlier.

I hope the Sixers get a legit PF or Center. We have no one we can really count on in the post. Hawes is ok but he is best at shooting pick and pop jumpers. Brand is an ok mid range jump shooter. We have a team of jump shooters and slashers and the G's and F's are not consistent or great at jump shooting streaky at best. So hopefully a PF or C will help establish something in the post even an improved post defense rebounding.

Crooked Zebra,

I believe Indy will be the second best team in the east. They are missing a go to star but their team is solid. Chicago's defense will probably have them at 3 even with Rose and Deng missing some time. NY can be anwhere from 4-8 truthfully. They just have no bench right now hard to say. Sixers should be somewhere on the lower end if they do nothing bad or implode

Why start over?they have a couple of nice young players. they just need more of a go-to type guy-I mean they could move iggy for say Rudy gaythey could move iggy/brand maybe for say Pau (with pieces thrown in)At some point you can't just keep blowing it up, you have to smartly add pieces that compliment and finish out your roster

Yes I would take Gay for Iggy. Give up a little defense for offense. I think very few teams will take Brand though I don't know if the Lakers are that desperate haha.

Oh.....they wouldnt 'want' brand......but if they can't move paus $They might want a shorter one back

Jgb,

Here is the thing I don't see Lakers taking Brand to downgrade the team short term for some cap relief longer term. By the time they can use the cap space you already wasted a few years of Kobe's career and made the team worse by adding Brand. I say they only trade Gasol if it involves an all-star piece that is young coming back in return in whatever deal.

Memphis has little reason to make such a trade straight up, given that Gay is several years younger than Iggy. I'm thinking that Philly would have to kick in with a 1st round draft pick in this scenario.....and I'm not sure they'd be willing to do that.

Best bet for Philly would be to try shipping Iggy off for a couple of 1st round draft picks.

I agree the Lakers will want and get a shorter contract back for Pau......but they could do a LOT better than taking on Brand.

I's still like to see the Bulls pursue a deal.....Pau for Boozer and another piece (Hamilton, Brewer or CJ Watson.....
