So, when [Ortiz] lamented that drama Thursday, complaining about recent media portrayals of the club, he actually should have directed his complaints at the people who hired Valentine: the Red Sox's owners. ... It is not Bobby V. The fact is that the team has finished third the last two years under Francona and they are in 4th today. That, more than anything, is why the franchise is the "the **** hole it used to be". The pitching has simply not been good enough. But win some series against the Yankees and Rangers, and watch the toxicity melt away.
