Texas Tech would rather not play than play on LHN

08:27 AM ET 06.22 | Just how touchy are things in Texas when it comes to the Longhorn Network? Texas Tech's Sept. 8 road game against Texas State may be broadcast on the Longhorn Network, an athletic department source with direct knowledge of the situation told RRS.com's Chris Level and Aaron Dickens on Thursday. ESPN announced earlier this month that the game would be carried on one of its platforms, but did not specify which. Tech learned of this possibility several days ago, and according to the source, is "adamantly opposed to playing on the Longhorn Network" and is "putting serious consideration into canceling the game and playing an 11 game schedule" this fall. "We are extremely disappointed," the source told RRS.

ROFLMAO!
Seriously, though. I would NOT want to play Aubie/MooSt/whoever, win or lose, and have it be on, say, UGaly's Dawgpoop network. I understand their unhappiness.

You answered that in post #1. Risk of sharting the bed.

The Bumfrack cable company has always had a strange sense of what channels to carry.

True, but ESPN has always stated that they will position LHN as a regional ESPNU-type station. You agree to play a team, you get their TV deal.
To me its no different than any school playing an SEC team on CBS.

I would catch a little, just to seen TSU.
I'm curious as to how the transition will go and to see the new stadium.

I remember a GA-GaTech game a couple of years ago. That's when it struck me how big the SEC/CBS hype machine truly was.

If they want to avoid being shown on Tier 3 channels, stop scheduling LSOPs for all the non-conference games.

That game was probably not the CBS "SEC Game Of The Week", even if it was on CBS. Pretty sure that agreement is SEC vs SEC only, but I could be wrong.

This was my sentiment. They cancel against TCU and add TSU; you get what you bargain for.

Game I remember was good game, GT won something like 45-41.
But, to your point, it is a rare deal. But happens occasionally.
