07:56 AM ET 06.24 | The Heat is expected to be among several teams that will at least place a call inquiring about Steve Nash, who averaged 10.7 assists (second in the league) and led all NBA guards by shooting 53.2. Though Nash has publicly expressed interest in Miami, it would be surprising if he takes $3 million; the Suns reportedly plan to offer $10 million a year. A Canadian report Friday listed Phoenix, Portland and Toronto as front-runners.

The Heat don't need Nash! They already have two ball-dominating superstars. They need Ray Allen or another sharp-shooting, 2-guard who can get buckets coming off the bench. They should look at Jason Terry, too. But Allen would be my preference.

Let Chalmers continue to develop...

Come to Toronto Bro

June 24, 2012  09:19 AM ET

Nash would have to be pretty desperate to win a championship to pay $7M for a ring.

I can't see Nash doing that, but hey, it could definitely happen.

Come To LA, Bro.

I love Nash and he'd help a lot on offense... but the Raptors were like the 3rd worst team defensively last year. We don't need another guy who can't play D

This is funny. The fans here think theses guys are driven by rings which should mean Nash would take the 3 million and play for a contender like the Heat. The reality is rings are the league brainwashing of the fans and players will take the money and run and forget the ring fanatics. Rings are overrated. Nash's MVP awards are far more impressive than any ring he might achieve as a nearly washed up bench warmer for a contender. See Juwan Howard.

But remember Karl and Gary chased after a ring with the Lakers. It has been and probably will be done.

Actually $21 million ($7 million per year). Phoenix is offering a 3 year deal. Smart money says he doesn't want one that bad.

June 24, 2012  01:01 PM ET

Not sure why the Heat wouild want another guard. They have Wade, Chalmers and Coles.

Nash to Lakers would make more sense (if LA has the $$). LA needs a guard.

June 24, 2012  01:24 PM ET

The Suns are interested in Ray Felton and other guards. Seems like they are expecting Nash not to return.

June 24, 2012  01:47 PM ET

Sure, he can go to all those places...Phoenix, Portland, Toronto and make all that money and retire without a ring.

June 24, 2012  02:10 PM ET

What's more important Steve, the money or the ring? We'll find out soon.

Nash would fit nicely with the Heat. I don't expect him there though because of salary considerations. Nash is a team player who makes any team immediately better.
