08:49 AM ET 06.24 | Roberto Luongo remains a Vancouver Canuck, and could do so for the foreseeable future. There was the thought that a consummation of a Luongo trade would be done this weekend during the 2012 NHL entry draft at the Consol Energy Center, but it didn't transpire. And when will it happen? Canucks general manager Mike Gillis is unsure. he Toronto Maple Leafs and Florida Panthers could be at the top of the list in the line to get Luongo. But Leafs general manager Brian Burke reiterated he has no interest in dealing defenceman Jake Gardiner, which could be a stumbling block.

"Canucks won't hurry to deal Luongo" Translation, they didn't get Burke drunk enough during the draft and no other GM in his right mind will touch him.

so burke actually managed to pull off a good trade. Now he's gotta throw it all away by throwing the kitchen sink at acquiring Luongoal

June 24, 2012  10:16 AM ET

BTW, can someone tell Hommer to stop picking on the Blue Jakcets...it's really not nice picking on the class ****.

3 picks for Bob? WTF???? And this after the Carter bust. What the heck was Howson drinking? Had he been patient he coulda probably picked up either Bernier, Lindback or 1 of the guys in Ottawa...

That was a good deal. I was impressed when I read it (the JVR one)

I think that was a great trade for the leafs. Say what you want about JVR, but if both hit their potential the Leafs get the better player.

I don't think it was that bad of a trade. 2nd and 2 4th for a fringe starting goalie.

He doesn't have the one thing that would make him tradeable=The Cup.

They both gave up too quick on their players...both will hit their primes IMO in the near future with JVR having more upside.

Exactly. Even people close to him are saying the asking price is too high. Seriously. The guy was playing with NINE draft picks and Vancouver couldn't wet his whistle enough.

JVR is going to add a lot to Grabovski's wing. Frankly, it's a good deal for all involved.

Just need a top line centre, and the top 6 should be good. It is gonna be tough to find a centre iceman for Lupul and Kessel, but JVR and Frattin on a second line with Grabo should be good. Then a third-line of Kulemin and Mac with either Colborne, Kadri, or Bozak can hopefully add some scoring.

Leafs just need to find a centre though!

And a goalie would be nice...

But only every trade for Luongo if the Canucks are willing to take back Komisarek and/or Lombardi.

there's absolutely no market for goalies...which is why none of the strong prospect back ups havent been moved. Nobody's ready to give up much to get them, so the teams that hold their rights just hold onto them. Columbus has needs ALL OVER the ice, so I can definitely see those picks as being valuable, especially the 32nd pick of the draft.

Id understand it if they got a guy like Bernier...but BOB...really?? Do you seriously think that having Bob between the pipes next year will improve this team at all? I don't.

and both teams got what they needed in the trade. great trade. I love seeing moves like this (even if it involves the leafs). This is good for both teams & both players.

It was the 45th overall pick 117th overall pick and a 4th next year. I don't think that is much for the guy who will be starting for them next year (because it doesn't seem Mason will). If they went after Bernier it would have cost a first rounder, and you can't trade the 2 overall pick for Bernier. Harding was already resigned, what other youngish goalie who has the capability was available. IMO this was a decent deal for Columbus.

I see it as each team fulfilling a positional need.

You actually think that was a good trade Poutine? The Leafs will turn Van

June 24, 2012  02:55 PM ET

All the Leafs need now is ten forwards six D and two capable goalies. Oh yeah, and a gm, a coach and ten billion brainwashed fans...........scratch the last one!

June 24, 2012  03:00 PM ET

I over estimated the depth of their roster.........make that twelve forwards.
