New offense could hurt Fasano

08:08 AM ET 06.25 | Anthony Fasano understands the challenge he'll face for the Dolphins' starting tight end job when training camp opens next month. The 6-foot-4, 255-pounder who is entering his seventh NFL season was a good fit for coach Tony Sparano's run-oriented offense. But with Joe Philbin bringing in an up-tempo West Coast attack that puts an emphasis on speed and quickness off the line of scrimmage, Fasano could prove to be a square peg in a round hole. General Manager Jeff Ireland hedged his bets in April's NFL Draft when he used a third-round pick on Missouri tight end Michael Egnew, who routinely lined up as an outside receiver for the Tigers. Also in the mix is second-year man Charles Clay.

Get your Dolpin news now. Once the season starts, no one's going to care about them.
Now, tell my why we should care about them now.

What a load of BS. Anyone who knows how to run a true West Coast offense knows the value of a good TE as well. The Packers have made a living of exceptional TEs in their West Coast offense going back to Chmura and then Franks. It's all about proper implementation and utilizing all the pieces available.

But the Dolphins don't have all the pieces, and they don't know how to use what they've got.

I know, DD. I just think that when there's no news, these cub reporters try to create one. Everyone is reporting for TMZ these days rather than just putting the news out; there always has to be some sort of drama.

Bill Belichick will tell you that you can never have enough of those TE's on the roster.

I'm going to get ahead of the curve and start not caring about them now. In fact I'm going to go one step farther and discare about them. I want to be on the cutting edge of apathy!

With new coaches comes new offense. If he can't stick with the Dolpins, there are run teams out there probably looking for a blocking TE.

Don't down grade a TE who can block when you have a rookie QB. Fasano is going to be a bigger asset this year than ever before.
