Can Hanley Ramirez be a clubhouse leader?

08:16 AM ET 06.25 | A six-game losing streak finally came to an end for the Marlins on Sunday. Hanley Ramirez might never be a vocal clubhouse leader because he said he's not comfortable speaking out to his teammates. But the Marlins' third baseman was incensed enough Saturday after Miami's sixth consecutive loss that he made an exception. For the first time in his career, Ramirez initiated a players-only meeting in which teammates took turns speaking out about the team's rough stretch. Ramirez's teammates were impressed by his initiative. ... Manager Ozzie Guillen said he'd love to see more of that from Ramirez, a three-time All-Star who has been with the team since 2006. "I wish he can be a leader 162 games every day," Guillen said.

Maybe he's finally getting his act together which would be great for the Marlins.

I'm surprised Ozzie has gone ballistic on this team already.

Maybe Hanley was hang up on this dream with the ownership. Since they had a new stadium, new players and new uniforms all they had to do is just show up and they would become division champs.

Does he speak English?

The Problem is that everyone on that Team is a Clubhouse Leader, kind of like in High School!

June 25, 2012  09:15 AM ET

Hanley's still young....he could become a leader....it's up to him....needs to lift his game and lead by example....it's a good start though...someone needs to take a lead role on that team...

Quick answer--NO.
He's an entitled young man with attitude issues. Not someone a team would want for a leader.
The Red Sox saw this in him years ago and dealt him to the Marlins in the trade for Beckett.

And look what they got for dealing him--Beckett.
Not sure who got the raw end of that deal.

That is silly. He wasn't even an everyday player when they traded him. Like the Red Sox know what a leader looks like. "Who is picking up the fried chicken today, Beckett?" Give me a break.

i hate Hanley...he's a plague

His nickname in Boston was Little Manny. That's all you need to know.

Maybe Ozzie should ask Castro for some advice. Fidel has been around a long time and maybe he can teach leadership seminars.

Mr.Cheese Head we do speak English down this way also. I thought these comments were suppose to be on sports topics. But some people like yourself must have nothing better to do than bash people for the way they talk, write,or express themself on SI.
