The Red Sox aren't the only team that does it, just about every franchise does now.

Alot of franchises do it, but most of them only have one concert/event duringh the season on the grass because the field can't handle more than that.

It takes time to turn around a franchise with very few chips to play with.
Give Theo three years to draft/trade and develop minor league talent and the Cubs may begin, I say BEGIN, to be a competitive team, perhaps four or five years to be title contenders.
It can happen, if everyone is patient. If not, then the whining about such silly things as using the ballpark for concerts etc. will become a distraction.

Wrigley is a pisshole of a stadium that needs to be torn down. Yeah, it has the history, and the area surrounding it is awesome, but the stadium is about to fall in, guys. Many seats have a view of a pole, and ramps going up to the upper decks are terrible, concrete chunks are falling from overhead...tear it down, play elsewhere for a couple of years, and recreate it.

I hear people compare Wrigley and Fenway. I visited both last summer. THERE IS NO COMPARISON. One is a museum that has been modernized. One needs to be replaced.

Went there about five years ago. The wire mesh around the exterior to keep crumbling cement and bricks from falling on to the pedestrians below looks terrible.

Not too long ago the same could be said about Fenway, some still say it.

You obviously have never been there.

Here's the thing: the Cubs sell tickets regardless of how bad they are because Wrigley is a "destination". If it isn't douchey business men trying to look important to potential clients buying the overpriced tickets, it's the other teams' fans. And if not them, it's the drunk frat groups that feel like "catching a game" before getting blackout drunk in old Wrigleyville (which is basically a collection of nothing but bars). They're in one of the largest sports markets in the nation, they're clearly the favored team of that city...basically owning the Cubs is a license to print money, because it will take many consecutive 100 loss seasons combined with another Prohibition to make Wrigley Field NOT a destination.

So, with that in mind, I don't see why they don't take that extra money they're getting from concerts and other extra-curriculars and apply that to fixing a stadium that is pretty much falling apart. Or, you know, fielding a good team.
