08:22 AM ET 06.25 | Without being unkind, Kentucky football isn't exactly Kentucky basketball. [Kentucky's] football program faces many challenges trying to compete in the mighty Southeastern Conference. It could use a new -- or at least renovated -- football stadium to keep up. There's that fancy "recruiting room" many other schools have and for which Wildcats fans clamor. The absence of winning [doesn't help]. ... Some say it's already time for a new coach, just two years into the Joker Phillips era. While some or even all those things might help, UK football faces one simpler truth that isn't changing any time soon: among states that house SEC programs, the state of Kentucky produces by far the least talent and is farthest away from most of the talent-wealthier states.

Football is a lot harder to build a program in. Basketball you can get one good player and it turns the whole program around.

The AD at KY. should know by now he is like the cream in a oreo cookie sandwich between UT and SC. There search needs to look at a young coach in a lower division who can recruit and bring him there and grow with him.

Kentucky's football program should siphon some of the money that the basketball team uses to pay players and get some big time recruits.

Kentucky is a basketball school in a football conference. Football coaches always have gotten the short shrift; the good ones move on (remember someone named Bryant who coached there sixty or so years ago?) or get kicked out.
