Wild have the cash to land Parise and Suter

08:25 AM ET 06.25 | Forgive Wild fans for their wide eyes as July 1 approaches. [On Sunday,] a crowded field of suitors can officially begin chasing New Jersey Devils forward Zach Parise and Nashville Predators defenseman Ryan Suter -- the two biggest prizes on the free-agent market and two players who could do nothing less than change the Wild's future should they wind up in St. Paul. ... If the NHL salary cap stays the same as it was last year, the Wild will have almost $20 million to spend -- and people close to the situation have said since the end of the season that the team plans to do everything it can to land Parise (who grew up in the Twin Cities) and Suter (a Madison, Wis. native whose wife is from Bloomington).
