08:01 AM ET 06.26 | In the spirit of the coming Olympic Games, guess who's stronger and faster? Before the Lions broke minicamp earlier this month, a reporter asked receiver Nate Burleson to name a teammate who had a standout spring or surprised him in any way. Burleson's answer, without much hesitation: Calvin Johnson. "I know it sounds corny," Burleson said. "You wouldn't think a guy like that could come back and get better, but he does." Johnson emerged as the NFL's most dominant receiver last year. He set career highs with 96 catches for a league-leading 1,681 yards and 16 touchdowns; he finished the year with three 200-yard receiving games in the last four weeks, including the playoffs; and he led the Lions to the postseason.

He's a beast. If Stafford can stay healthy Calvin will have another outstanding year.

I'm not a Lions fan but am excited to see this team continue to improve after such a long drought.

I'm rooting for them as well. I just worry about the maturity level of some of the team members.

I think Megatron is ok. I don't recall too much negative press on him. Right now, it seems to be their D that needs to grow up.

Megatron is a model citizen. It's the other inmates I worry about.

As good as he is, I question the wisdom of tying up so much of your offense and so much of your cap space in one wide receiver. Suppose he blows out his knee in week 2?

Detroit will be fun to watch this year, if they keep their defense out of jail.

Calvin Johnson is far from finished. Detroit has begun the build a good team and will have to be reckoned with before it is all over. All they had needed was a good GM. Prior GM was a great player but not a good GM.
