No promises from Jays for Moyer

08:16 AM ET 06.26 | With injuries mounting, the Blue Jays made a move Monday to add 49-year-old pitcher Jamie Moyer to Class AAA Las Vegas. Moyer will report to Las Vegas for a handful of starts with no promises made about a promotion, and his addition speaks to the threadbare nature of the organization's pitching depth right now. The move comes after Toronto starter Henderson Alvarez left Monday night's game against Boston in the sixth inning for what the team said was a "precaution with right elbow soreness." Alvarez threw three pitches to the leadoff hitter, Adrian Gonzalez, before the trainer and manager John Farrell came to the mound. He walked off a few minutes later with the trainer and was replaced by right-hander Jason Frasor.

Four of their five starters go down in less than two weeks. Plus McGowan was suppose to be in the rotation, but hasn't pitched all season. So they are down 5 of their top 6 in the depth chart . They are desperate.

If Moyer can pitch at 49, there's still hope for me...where are the Jays holding tryouts?

Is life really that bad at home Jamie? 49 years old and still trolling the minors trying to find work. This was a great story at one time, but now it's getting to be pathetic.

At this point there are definitely more downs than ups....for every decent game he might pitch there will be two or three bad ones....bug hey it goes to show that there will always be a market for a lefthanded pitcher...

This guy has to be broke or lonely to keep doing this...give it up already. You had a good career. Go out with some dignity

June 26, 2012  11:30 AM ET

Get him up to the bigs. We need anyone who can put the ball over the plate right now.

June 26, 2012  11:36 AM ET

another Jays starter went down. so currently 4/5 of our starting rotation is injured.

Jamie, please take your **** home. You seem like a nice guy, but stick a fork in your own ****. You are done.

injuries to pitchers are more costly than injuries to a regular hitters,,

Apparently the Farve condition interferes with the ability to insert a fork in one's own ****.

VEGAS Baby...

Well done by Moyer and his agent.

June 26, 2012  02:47 PM ET

If the guy can get people out and there's someone interested, why not? Don't tell me if any of you had the chance to pitch in the majors at that age, you wouldn't.

I cetrainly would.

It doesn't say much for the Jays farm system when they have to turn to the ageless one for rotation pitching help.

Yeah, it's usually only ranked top 1-3.
