08:21 AM ET 06.26 | Just how large are the dollars that might come with a newly proposed college football postseason? About $5 billion large. The BCS Presidential Oversight Committee will vote Tuesday in Washington, D.C., on a new four-team, three-game playoff that could be sold to television for as much as $5 billion over a 10-year deal, a BCS source close to the process told Sporting News. The 2011 BCS contract paid out $174 million, and the newly restructured postseason would nearly triple that number. Those numbers clearly outline why the committee won't opt for a Plus One postseason -- one game after all the bowl games are played -- instead of the playoff proposed by the conference commissioners and Notre Dame athletic director Jack Swarbrick.

Can't wait until the junkyard dogs start fighting over how to divide the $5 billion piece of meat. Now the hand holding and kumbaya singing should stop.

Will they approach this with a scarcity mentality or an abundance mentality? Stay tuned.

Haven't you read the news??? Abundance side is wanting to keep all their wealth and the have-nots are wanting to spread the wealth...so the Abundance side would be saying this money should be split so that the ones who play in the tourney should get more and then down to the smaller schools getting about $5....LOL

Actually, that might be a good idea....the Tourney teams getting X amount for participating (giving them all the incentive to strive for the playoffs), and the rest being split evenly among ALL FBS Schools...hmmm???

Good thoughts but not exactly what I meant by scarcity vs abundance. I almost puked when I saw that figure. This will continue to extend the $$$ focus instead of quality college football focus. Truly NFL junior.

Its all about the money and not about the football being played.

This does make the dudes that were saying the BCS was better because it pays better than a playoff look silly.

Well it was - for them. Just ask the Fiesta Bowl chairman and committee...

How much of that is guaranteed to Coach Saban?

And congrats to AZ - don't think they lost a single game in the Reg, Supers and CWS.
