08:27 AM ET 06.26 | Barry Switzer believes former coaches should have a place on any selection committee to choose a college football playoff field, and he knows just the guy. During an interview Monday with The Oklahoman, Switzer was asked if he would consider serving on a selection committee if called upon. "It'd be an honor and a privilege," Switzer said. "I would think they'd need some coaches. You're going to have administrators, athletic directors. But I'd think you'd need the voices of some coaches in there." ... Former coaches Bobby Bowden (Florida State), R.C. Slocum (Texas A&M), John Cooper (Ohio State) LaVell Edwards (BYU) and Vince Dooley (Georgia) have all expressed interest in serving on a selection committee.

Beautiful day in Pittsburgh today about 72 degrees, blue skies and sunny with low humidity. Have windows and doors open.

NO to BOWDEN and NO to COOPER.

Would suggest an age limit of 70 or so and a stipulation that the individual has coached in the last 5 years.

Good Lord...Switzer would be like hiring a fence post and Bowden HATES Alabama for not hiring him. Edwards is about the only one I would trust in that list.

No coaches, period. The same reason for no coaches poll. Way too biased.

Disagree, bias is everywhere. That said, I would be opposed to any group that was just made up of ex-coaches. If they were 10%-30% of the mix I would have no problem with it.

Agreed. Let's have the Little Sisters of the Poor be the selection committee. No bias there.

Just wondering, Harley....would Gee approve of this? lol

I think coaches exhibit the most bias. They either have ax's to grind, proteges still coaching, or are consultants/ambassadors for their long-term school. I can't think of a single coach that I would trust

Exactly where would you not find bias? I know, hire only single women no older than 25.

Hmm, I want to be on the selection committee that selects the selection committee then.

Didn't think about the protege angle. That might be the best argument for keeping them off.

Well they wouldn't invite any old geezers (like all of us except maybe LUS and FJJ and some others) to dance...that's for sure!
