Poile hopes for one more crack at Suter

08:32 AM ET 06.26 | The remaking of the Predators took further shape Monday as it became clearer Jordin Tootoo would not return. Tootoo's agent, Kevin Epp, said it appears the popular spark plug winger will not re-sign with the Predators before unrestricted free agency starts July 1. On that date, Tootoo can sign with any team in the league without compensation for the Predators. ... [David Poile] said he hoped to receive an update from pending unrestricted free agent Ryan Suter late this week. Poile said Suter met with his representatives Monday. Suter is likely to test the free-agent market on July 1. "I would hope to hear from his representative or Ryan later in the week ... to see if there's any change or if we can do anything before July 1," Poile said.

Tootoo might not look to bad on Sid's wing. If the Pens can't get Parise maybe they can get Suter and Tootoo.

Suter is a good shot to be with the Pens next year....that is what we hear in Music City....hate to lose Tootoo...great fan favorite....creates lots of excitement...just got lost in the musical chair dance into the playoffs..

Tootoo would should be a good not to expensive pick up for the right team. He does bring energy and has proven he can get points on the board.

So Poile blew it by not trading him at the deadline then? And gave up his #1 for Gaustad, who is not a FA.

Hell, out on eastern long island? there are trailer folks that would frighten people from Wal-mart. There are towns in Suffolk County like "Ridge"....SCARY!!!!!

It's a shame, too. The Preds are so close but now that they are losing so many important pieces of the team, it's quite a setback. Makes me wonder why players don't want to stick around with a competitive team. Is something else going on in Nashville?

Nashville really has a lot to offer pro-athletes now...Williamson County(next door to Nashville) rated in top five nationwide in school education...per capita family income...great tax rate..no state income tax..most all Titans and Preds live in this county...20 min drive to downtown Nashville..central location in southeast makes for easy travel nationwide....great weather......hopefully Poile has something up his sleeve to counter this exodus of quality talent...its taken since 1998 to get a competive team on the ice and we don't want to go back and start over...that being said, Music City offers a good quality of life for anyone ....hard to beat....lot of retired athletes stayed in Middle Tenn for what it offers....
