Don't close the door on Luongo-to-Leafs

08:33 AM ET 06.26 | Logically speaking, Roberto Luongo would like to have as many teams as possible interested in his services. While it's certainly true Luongo would look kindly on a return to South Florida, and Canucks GM Mike Gillis most certainly knows that, it's far too early in the process to suggest he won't go here or there, with here or there obviously including the Toronto Maple Leafs. Luongo is a pragmatic, intelligent man. He knows if he wants out of Vancouver, and that's certainly his preference, he can't close the door on too many places because, right now anyway, there aren't too many places that want or can afford him and his contract. Florida and Toronto appear to have the greatest interest in Luongo.

I never did, and I'm sure Lord Irk hasn't either

Shut the door.

June 26, 2012  08:59 AM ET

I heard they wanted either Gardiner or Kadri.

Is that a joke? Seriously!

How's the Italian food in Toronto?

Now this is a recurring thread that I can enjoy. Its fun to torture Maple Leaf fans with the thought that Burke will throw away someone decent to get Bobby Lou.

Shut the DA_N door !!!

Unless VCR will accept a package of Komisarek + well, plus nothing.

Any more than that is overpaying given the albatross contract.

Fantastic - we have about 1/2 million people of Italian descent in the GTA. During the World Cup (and Euro cup), there are amazing celebrations when Italy wins a game!

Sounds like it should be a done deal then.

Absolutely true. Outside of Italy, Toronto rivals any other city in the world for first class Italian dining. That includes NYC.

The Monster is now a Jet...is that a clue that Burke may be close to a goalie deal?

NYC is okay, but you know where there an really good little Italy? Providence Rhode island.
I grew up in NYC, been to a lot of really good Italian places, but there is a place in Providence (Al Forno is the name...be prepared to wait if you go) that has, hands down, the best Italian food I ever had (not counting home made)

I agree Argos. Who would want Khadri?

But you would still have to put up with the people who live there. Think I would rather starve.

Luongo vetoed a trade to the Leafs already because of his no movement clause

He has a no trade, but they can move him to the minors. If Luongo doesn't give the Nucks more options he could end up in Chicago. Not the Hawks but the Wolves.

I felt right at home there back in the 80s. Don't know about now.
