08:34 AM ET 06.26 | Not every young NHL star can be Jonathan Toews, the preternaturally precocious and composed captain of the Blackhawks who, unlike a certain young teammate of his, doesn't seem to let trouble find him. [Toews] expressed "support" for teammate Patrick Kane as NHL players gathered in Chicago for a round of meetings in advance of negotiations for a new collective bargaining agreement. Toews was asked about Kane's weekend in Madison, Wis. in early May where he was photographed in unflattering moments while partying at a Cinco De Mayo celebration. "He's still learning," Toews said. "It's unfortunate, now people are looking for that sort of thing. We just want him to know we're supporting him. I'm sure he's being very hard on himself right now."

June 26, 2012  08:42 AM ET

okay, let's try this again...a young athlete with a lot of fame and money does what every other "kid" his age was doing and it's a news item....
Imagine if the press worked like this in Howe's day? or babe ruth's?

The "kid" is 23 years old, I think its time for him to grow up. When I was 23, I was married, settled down and starting a family.

Agree. With his money he can goof off and party (nothing wrong with that) without creating an **** of himself, possibly getting hurt or hurting someone else or finding an MMA cabdriver.

Kane needs to learn how to pick his spots. He is a celebrity and must understand the responsibility that goes along with that. Kane...stay out of the news unless you're on the ice.

He parties privately with that Latin harlot he's dating.

But it isn't news. It's gossip and voyeurism. A lot of young men who aren't famous do this, why is it wrong for Kane? I don't recall anyone getting hurt or any improper allegations made against him. And, who are anyone in the media to put themselves out there as some morality police criticizing this guy? I wish Kane and the Blackhawks would come out and say "So, what?".

I don't think there is anything voyeuristic about public intoxication.

Yeah, and when we were kids there weren't iphones and internet Bish. Yeah he's a bit of a doocher but he's still a kid.

There is something voyeuristic about everyone poking their cameras into places that used to be mostly private and then posting it all over the internet.

There was nothing private about his intoxication in Madison. It was a public spectacle.

He made himself fair game in my book.

Right, he's totally a DB, but that's it. This was even after the season, so he wasn't letting teammates down. He's just a jackass, that's what Kane is.
