08:02 AM ET 06.27 | You didn't have to look hard to find Drew Brees on Tuesday, even if he was bumped by David Letterman. [Brees] made the media rounds Tuesday with appearances on five different radio and television programs, receiving countless questions about the NFL's bounty investigation and his contract negotiations with the New Orleans Saints. Throughout the day, Brees hammered home two central messages: He thinks the league's findings were a foregone conclusion, and he'll be on the field for the Saints sometime this season. "I would never sit out a football season," Brees said in an interview with ESPN's "Outside the Lines." "I love the game too much. I love my team too much. But obviously, there's a lot that can happen between now and then."

The Saints should pay Brees, but I've gotta admit, Brees is becoming pretty annoying.

So, he'll let Chase Daniel start the season, then come back just in time to get season credit so he can be a free agent.
Git 'er done, Saints management. The line in the sand has been drawn.

Reading the same story about him every week or so is annoying, but he really hasn't changed his position any. I've got more of an issue with the media coverage than with Brees himself.
I mean, why have there been so few stories about kickers and punters this off-season?

We should have a Jets story instead.

Yes. We need a proper venue to say

I'm not sure what to think of him at this point. With him speaking out about the bounties, I have to believe that it's more for Sean Payton's benefit. I still don't believe that he was unaware and can't believe the the PA hasn't questioned him about it as the Saints' Player Rep.

The man is talking in circles. If someone soon doesn't get a hold on all of their problems down there this team could be headed back to the old Tulane Stadium era.

There should be a requirement of a Jets story everyday so real people (Jets fans aren't real people by the way) can vent their anger at the worst sports franchise to ever.

I think so, too. Even if he signs the tag, he can still negotiate a long-term contract with the Saints, and he looks like a team player who deserves the contract. If he holds out, he looks like a greedy stiff who's only in it for the money.
Even with Brees, I don't think the Saints are going anywhere this year. So, they can just let him sit out and not pay him. Then, they can tag him again and see if he wants to sit 2 years in a row. By that time, he might get a big contract, but he's not going to be worth it.

Ohhh clever. Yeah in that light Brees has no upper hand, play or sit 2 years and his career is done. I always took Drew Brees for an intelligent guy... maybe not.

Don't the Saints have an offer on the table to Brees for something like 18 million a year? I'm really losing respect for this guy by the minute.

Hes a phony SOB just like most of the others. Hes made this squeeky clean image but he keeps saying its not about the money, yet yesterday he said he just wants to be paid what other QBs with his stats are being paid and if that means its the highest paid in the league then so be it.
The statements hes made about the NFL going after the Saints with no evidence is a crock. The Saints coaches wouldnt have accepted the punishments w/o any fight if they were squeeky clean so zip it Brees

The guy played for far below market value the past four years. He did sign originally coming off an injury (risky for the SAINTS). Honestly, as badly as we want him back in New Orleans I think that they should pay him current market value. He's been a bargain for us so you can't blame him for wanting to cash in. And, this is probably his last contract so I understand him wanting something solid and lucrative.

Brees got his shoulder wrecked in a similar situation, and he is not going to take the same risks. If you got burned BADLY doing something once would you be eager to repeat the situation? That is why people aren't in a hurry to sign the franchise deal and Brees definitely should not sign it under these circumstances.
It's time for the Saints to pay up. Bottom line. I am sick of athletes getting dumped on for looking out for themselves in a game and profession where your shelf life is short and most of your colleagues and going to be broke a few years later. The owners are not going to be broke anytime soon and Brees needs to get his money while he can and if that includes sitting out the season then so be it.
