08:06 AM ET 06.27 | As the draft approaches, free agency remains in the back of execs' minds, especially those in the Deron Williams sweepstakes. Four rival executives and a fifth person familiar with Williams' thinking told CBSSports.com Tuesday that the Mavericks are becoming increasingly worried that the All-Star point guard will stay with the Nets when the free-agent floodgates open Sunday. While optimists in the Mavs' camp are holding out hope that they still have a "50-50" chance of landing Williams, who grew up in Dallas, executives working the phones Tuesday have detected a real concern from the Mavs that Williams will opt to join the Nets in Brooklyn next season. Free agency opens at 12:01 a.m. ET Sunday.

No worries, the Mavs can rebuild by drafting KButter5 from UNC Thursday night.

Sleep Till Brooklyn!!!!

Going to the Mavs would be better than the Nets but either way he has to wait for help. I think the Mavs are on a slippery edge between rebuilding mode and playoff team

...I'm betting on stupid moron.

I'm betting on it too. His plan for Williams and Howard sounded great on paper but he left himself with little assets to actually make it happen.

How can a player "slip away" that was never on ur squad to begin with?

Something tells me the Rockets are going to pull off the impossible tomorrow night LOL!!!!

I think so too. I really like Morey's aggressiveness. He's put Houston in a great positioning with the manuvering. I just hope he can finish it off.

Yep ... He gave himself financial flexability for the next 2-3 yers by not signing Chandler and Barea ... keep that in mind as we drop out of the western conference playoffs for the next 10 years.

And BTW ... we beat the Heatles last year with a full strength bosh and wade ... we would have crushed them again.

MMAFan ... but the Dallas market hasnt signed a high profile FA in years ... literally. The last one to come to town of any significance was Deon Sanders. We never get ANY of the good free agents.
