Wizards No. 3 pick in high demand

08:08 AM ET 06.27 | Ted Leonsis declared on the night of the draft lottery that the Wizards would keep the third pick. A week later, President Ernie Grunfeld said "in all likelihood" the Wizards would keep the selection and added, "We do what our owner says." Other NBA teams have apparently taken those comments as a dare. As Thursday's draft draws near, the Wizards are discovering that No. 3 is in demand. According to two league sources, the Wizards have been fielding calls in recent days from teams interested in moving up to possibly select Kansas big man and District native Thomas Robinson. ... It would likely take a knockout offer for the Wizards to budge, but they are picking up the phone.

They are getting Beal or Barnes. I see no way they take Robinson to keep if he is available but maybe they pick him and trade for a SG. They have ample depth at SF so maybe Barnes can play SG.

I'm from Florida and Beal is overrated he can't create his own shot and the Wizards need a player that can, Barnes can't create his own shot, or didnt display it playing for NC, when he had the green light he's not that aggressive, only avg. around 17pts a game and most of that was off of free throws. I would take a player like Kidd-Gilchrist he can create. But if the Bobcats are smart at the #2 pick they would take him,but that is just my opinion

So by your views MKG creates and is the better offensive player when he had less assists and scored less?...Don't get me wrong I'd prefer MKG of the three too, but because of his defense and relentless style of play. He may never become an all-star, but he's going to get after it every day.

The good thing about Beal is though he a pretty good rebounder as well especially for a guard his size, he is still only a freshman they all have to improve. I think they need a perimeter scorer of the catch and shoot type, more than than they need someone who can create their own shot as well. They should be playing inside out with Nene and Okafor and they need someone to spread the floor more than score off the dribble. They were the 28th worse 3pt shooting team 32%, 26th worse from 16-23 ft 36% and the worse 30th from 10-15 ft 32.5%. I would say they are in need of a SG that can shoot more than create.

Not to mention that any kind of shot selection at sg would be better than Jordan Crawford's chucking it every time he catches it. And you're right this team is desperate for some outside shooting because as is 4 of their starters can't shoot at all (Wall/Ariza/Nene/Oka)

Taking Robinson makes no sense. Not with Nene and Okafor around. Beal or Barnes has to be the pick because those guys can at least shoot.
MKG has heart and hustle but with Ariza around he doesn't seem like a fit.

I know a couple of you don't like Beal, and that's cool, but I think he's going to be a good pro. He had to deal with sharing the ball with Walker and Boynton at UF, and playing a little out of position at the 3.

I agree, this leak that the pick is in high demand for Robinson is an attempt by Washington to scare the Bobcats into taking him at 2 instead of trading down to 4 and having the Cavs steal Beal

You dern right I would take MKG he is NBA ready and he will help a team out he can create his own shot that is what teams are looking for at least they should be with higher picks in this yrs draft. But I dont think the Bobcats will take him at #2 because of the recent acquisition of Gordon they would be too small in the backcourt. I wouldnt be surprised if they traded the pick to move down and get a big like Drummond (since he is projected to fall) and a lower pick to get an Austin RIvers since he is projected in the 20s for their #2 pick.

If Beal is gone before the Bullez pick @ 3, then I bet they trade the pick for a established SG.

I think they've decided on Robinson to step in and start at pf from day one. Makes sense to put him beside Byombo imo as I think they compliment each other well. Then at least they have the beginning of some core players with Kemba/Gordon/Henderson, they'll still be bad but not record setting bad again.

Bocats are taking Robinson at 2.
Wizards are taking Beal at 3.
So the Cavs have to choose between Barnes and Gilchrist. I think Gilchrist will be a ok player but i'd take Barnes over him. Barnes is NBA ready and while i questioned his heart at NC, he showed some fire late in the season. At his worst he's Joe Johnson. At his best he's Paul Pierce.

The Wizards will probably find a way to screw this up. Their drafting record for the last several years has not been stellar.
