Cashman ready to change his tune?

08:20 AM ET 06.28 | The clock struck midnight Wednesday on what had developed nicely as a fairy tale in New York. [Cruel] fate intervened Wednesday, striking down both CC Sabathia and Andy Pettitte in a span of a couple of hours. ... Indeed, wasn't it just a day earlier that Brian Cashman had said he didn't think he would have to be very active at the trading deadline this year? That the Yankees, as he (and just about everyone else) saw it, were well-fortified everywhere -- with production up and down the lineup (they lead the majors in home runs), a five-deep starting rotation and similar quality depth in a bullpen that hasn't even missed Mariano Rivera. One suspects the GM may soon have to amend that.

Oh BFD! The Rangers have 3 starters on the DL.

I heard 2 months for Pettite on the radio this morning, not 4 - 6 weeks.

this below comment from Cashman is from the same paper ...a different writer.....

"GM Brian Cashman said he plans to exhaust his internal options before pursuing any help via trade, although he didn???t rule out such a possibility.

???The good teams roll through that stuff,??? Cashman said. ???We???ll have to find a way to roll through their absence.???

If it is indeed a fracture a 6-8 week timetable would seem to make more sense.

CC is only out 2 weeks that's maybe one start because of the All Star break....and hey lets be honest Pettite was a gift tossed in the mouth this year....nobody expected him to come back let alone perform the way he has....No trades they will tread water with what they have( Freddie Garcia and the kid Wagner they are calling up.....

Still need to lose two more starters in the next 3 days to keep up with the Jays.

Still, I was liking Pettitte's return immensely. Sad to see him down.

C'mon Alderson show some gonads.....Mets should dangle Johan for a few blue chippers......

June 28, 2012  09:01 AM ET

They are calling up Adam Warren from AAA. Freddy Garcia (ack) and Warren will take CC's and Andy's rotation spots.

The Mets owe Santana about $13 mil for the balance of this year plus a $5.5 mil buyout next year. They are going have to eat a large chunk of that if they want decent players in exchange.
