08:10 AM ET 06.29 | Danny Ainge had a long day Thursday, and yet the days will grow that much longer thanks to free agency. The Celtics took big men with back-to-back picks in the first round of Thursday's NBA Draft, selecting Ohio State's Jared Sullinger and Syracuse's Fab Melo with the 21st and 22d picks. Ainge said he was happy with the choices. "Big guys are hard to find," said Ainge. ... Sullinger slipped in the draft because of issues with his back. Ainge revealed that an MRI after the college season showed that Sullinger had a herniated disk. "There are some issues there," said Ainge. "Our medical staff thinks that short-term and long-term there may be some maintenance issues with the back. Doc Rivers played with a herniated disk for 13 years."

This could be a great situation for Sully as long as Boston keeps the vets around. Hopefully expectations will be tempered and allow him to develop a role (like Bradley this past year) where he can excel but not be expected to carry the hopes of a team (like he would of as a lotto pick)

Fab Melo was a good pick for them, if they wouldn't have got him Miami probably was itching to get him, I'm still on the fence at Sully, he is like Bigbaby a little so I guess it could work but he doesnt run the floor or even jump as high as Bigbaby.

QUOTE(#10):

You mean Bass? Big Baby has been in Orlando for a year.

I know this I am comparing him to players that remind me of Sully and Big Baby just happened to play on the Celtics before, and they draft a similar player in Sully.

QUOTE(#9):

Sullinger is a better player than Glen Davis.

Glen is more athletic and Sully has a bad back. I would take Bigbaby @ this point.

Sully doesn't have a bad back... he had ONE doctor say that he had a bulging disk, Sully was a 2 time All-American and led his team to the Final Four. Big Baby lived up to his nickname and was a whiny **** in Orlando last year. Boston got lucky, more than one team will regret passing on Jared's talent.

The Celtics need to bring back KG to tutor these guys. Great draft for Boston.

Big Baby isn't a slouch. He played well for Orlando after Dwight went out of the lineup. Sullinger is much more polished offensively than Big Baby was coming out of college (and probably right now). Plus he showed he can lead a team - 2 time all american in college. Good picks by Boston.
