Nash now a lock to leave?

08:13 AM ET 06.29 | Was Phoenix's first-round selection, North Carolina point guard Kendall Marshall, for the guy it wanted or the guy it needed? [Maybe] they just took the guy they had to have, even if he might have a few flaws. Twice in his initial remarks Suns General Manager Lance Blanks urged members of the media not to "read too far" into what the pick means as it relates to free agency. Translation: This doesn't mean Steve Nash isn't coming back. We're going to read that into it anyway. Or at least we're going to read into it that the Suns can't and shouldn't count on Nash returning. ... An upgrade at backup point guard probably isn't what Nash had in mind after two consecutive years of watching the playoffs.

QUOTE(#6):

The real deal is people don't care about whether Nash leaves Phoenis or not. What they care about is wehether he leaves Phoenix for NY. They may not say it every time, but that is what they're thinking.

That seems to be a good assumption, as he has really only been linked with NY on the threads.

Philly did have a good draft last night. They got a 3 who can take over for Iggy and a 4 who can actually score in the low post. Now all they have to do is get rid of Brand and Iggy. Another good thing is they can actually get something good in return for Iggy.

Nash is gone. He wanted the team to improve...instead they draft his replacement.

Picking KButter5 was wise. If Nash bolts to the BIG Apple, the Suns have a pg ready to step up.

He'll be in a Knicks uni...

Let's hope so...

Heard Ray Allen might be on the market also - he'd be a nice fit - but they probably can't get both...

Listening to the ESPN NY guys this morning and they are killing the Knicks for the Greek dude they got...

Hello! It's the 48 pick!

Not like 1999 when they got Fredric Weis at 15 (with Artest, Posey and AK-47 still on the Board).

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Phoenix is prepared to offer Nash a 3 year deal at $10 million per. If Nash leaves Phoenix, it will be to chase a ring. Zoo York and Toronto can forget it. Think Heat.
