08:17 AM ET 06.29 | With the Heat's celebration over, it's baseball season in Miami. This is the Marlins' time, in theory, at least. Now is when the calendar invites casual fans and South Florida at large to reacquaint with the team in the new ballpark, that chance to retake the stage accentuated by the team's starring role in Showtime's The Franchise. ... "School is now out, the [Heat's] championship is accomplished, and we have a spectacular team -- I still believe that, and I love our chances," Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria told us Thursday. "The Dolphins don't play significant games until the fall. We're going to play our significant games in August and September, and by that time people will be so in love with us they won't want to go anywhere else!"

I think the attraction down there is more about the new ballpark and less about the team itself.

Put down the crack pipe, Loria.

Ozzie is having Fidel come up to throw out the first pitch on weekend games.

I'm enjoying their crappy play.

Gotta admit...if I was in the Miami area, I would be watching **** and drinking beer and eating seafood and snorkeling, not attending a baseball game.

They'll never be the team to watch with those uniforms.

To be kind, they are atrocious.

It's not like their old ones were that much better.

I wonder why they haven't been bidders for any of the Cuban players who have come over recently? That would seem to be a natural PR move to stir interest. (Or maybe they were bidders and I just missed the story.)

You can do that before and after the games. Hittin' up a Marlins game breaks up the routine a little.

I'd love to catch a game at their new stadium.

Agreed. While I'm glad that isn't the stadium I have to frequent, it looks interesting enough.

The Heat is where it's at! The Marlins are a Team of many leaders, with littler no support!

It doesn't cost nothing to dream Mr. Loria. I watch the Cards series this week and it look like more empty seats than full seats.

June 29, 2012  03:48 PM ET

I think it is time to drug test owners.
