08:31 AM ET 06.29 | For Justin Schultz, the free-agent frenzy started early, and he has pared his short list. The suitors include the Leafs, his home-province Vancouver Canucks, the Edmonton Oilers, Ottawa Senators and Rangers. ... [You] can bet Burke, the man who drafted him in Anaheim, is playing the Jake Gardiner card in hopes his former Wisconsin teammate can entice him to Hogtown. But the Rangers are well-armed with ex-Badgers, too, Derek Stepan and Ryan McDonagh. TSN's Bob McKenzie reported late Thursday that the Minnesota Wild has entered the talks, after Detroit was eliminated earlier in the day. Having entered free agency because the Ducks could not sign him after four years, Schultz can agree only to an entry-level contract.

I have to say, this guy is commanding an awful lot of attention for someone that has never played an NHL shift

I see an 18 year contract with a NTC in his future.

Yeah but, two Shultzs are better than one. At least that's what they're hoping for in Edmonton.

I don't know if this guy is smart enough (or good enough) to do all that on his own. Obviously, he has a very clever agent. This might come back to bite him in the arse, if the kid stumbles at all.

Agreed, that is why if the kid is smart, he will not sign with TOR or NYR. Fans and media will eat him alive.

You are missing the cleverness of our interns. They have switched from constant threads of players retiring to threads about players just entering the league.
