Price now quick to sign?

08:33 AM ET 06.29 | With Jonathan Quick landing a 10-year deal, which goalie is next in line for a long-term, lucrative deal? I don't think there's any question that Carey Price is next up on the tee. The Montreal Canadiens have been talking to Price for some time about a new deal and it looks like it's getting closer. It's interesting that Quick's deal was 10 years with a cap hit between $5.5 and $6 million per year. When Price's deal gets done with the Canadiens, I would expect that the term will be a lot less, in the neighbourhood of 6-7 years, but the cap hit will likely be more than Quick's, maybe $6 to $6.5 million per year. I'm sure this is something that Price and the Canadiens both want to get taken care of as soon as possible.

Has no one learned about siginging someone to that long a contract? (as Rocket J Squirrel once said) "That almost never works!"

Another long term, NTC contract? Have they lost their minds?

Boston only gave Rask a 1yr deal. He either proves it and strikes it rich at the end of the year (with a LTC) as a UFA.

They've been on the tee for quite some time now...

Let's hopes he lassoes himself a good deal. Yeeeeeehaaaaw.

June 29, 2012  09:52 AM ET

And they will give it to him. It is not like they have much of a choice, do they?

Just as I hope the Leafs land Lulongo with his LTC and give him at least 5 year extension.

Burkie must know about extensions as he's such a big prick.

Price might be quick to sign but .... he ain't no Quick.

Ah, yes. All he needs now is Semin.

Should have just kept Halak, better and cheaper

With goalies?

With goalies?

Sure. Don't you think the Islanders, Canucks and, to some degree, the Penguins might have some regrets with those juicy LT contract to theirs?

Once the contract is signed, you're screwed. What motivation is there left for the player to go all out to prove himself when he believes he's already proven he's the best and deserves all that money? Why work your butt off and risk an injury that might separate you from some of that money?
