How high will Detroit go for Suter?

08:37 AM ET 06.29 | Soon, the bidding will begin, and Ryan Suter, who made $3.5 million in 2011-12 is likely to come in at around twice that in 2012-13. Nobody is comparing him to Nicklas Lidstrom, but Suter has similar qualities. He plays a strong two-way game. He moves the puck well, joins the rush, possesses a hard, accurate shot from the point and he logs a lot of minutes in all situations. ... Suter, in all likelihood, will get the second-most lucrative free-agent deal after New Jersey left wing Zach Parise. Wherever Suter goes (or if he stays in Nashville), he has indicated he would like it to be for the rest of his career. So it will be for a real long term, likely between seven and 10 years, and probably between $6.5 million and $7 million per season.

Be sure, no matter what, someone will overpay for him. :)

If Wideman got 5.25 for 5 years, Suter should get about 14 a year for 34 years.

No. I disagree. Such honor belongs Ilyia Kovalchuk alone.
