08:42 AM ET 06.30 | The deadline to amnesty players is July 19 but "we're not looking at amnestying anybody," Riley said. "If Mike Miller could guarantee me a seventh game in the Finals, I would let him sit out all year."

The Heat should pursue Ray Allen & take a run at Greg Oden if he can recover from micro-fracture surgery!!! It won't be much of a gamble and it would not cost much!!!!

"we're not looking at amnestying anybody," Riley said.

Sounds like a man keeping his options open.

If you are going to have a large dead weight on the end of the bench I'd rather have Oden than Curry, that's for sure. And I'd like ray-ray to guarantee me a seventh game in the finals (especially since it would be more likely to be on my home court). But I guess Miller HAS earned some loyalty points.

QUOTE(#5):

Mike Miller is not a difference maker. That being said I think amnesty is not a good option as you have to pay the player anyway. Instead of paying the full amount I think an amnesty should be more like a contract buyout at a preset percentage. For example let's say 80% of the contracted amount.

Mike Miller not a difference maker?

Those 7 3pt shots he just hit in Game 5 had nothing to do with the win huh?

Granted, he is not a LeBron or Wade type of difference maker but Mike Miller plays his role and plays it well.

The guy will probably have surgery during the offseason and be back next year.

Amnesty really should only be used to get UNDER the cap, period.

By doing that with Miller, the Heat would STILL be over the cap, so it would make zero difference in who could be signed.

And, the amnesty option can only be used once every 10 years I think...so you better make it count.

He sure was in that last game!

Miller was a difference maker in the closeout game...Haslem didn't play much in game 5 but they don't win the title without him. When Bosh was out he played well.It is a team, and the key guys showed out when needed other than the big 3.Turiaf has opted out, Pittman's contract was made guaranteed. My guess is if Turiaf signs elsewhere the heat will sign Oden.If Ray Allen goes elsewhere the heat can get Brandon Roy.

OKC didnt have anyone when Harding didnt show up....Inexperience!
