Can Kings tempt Parise with Cup?

08:22 AM ET 07.01 | The ramifications of their Stanley Cup championship and its impact on the free-agent market will be tested for the first time starting Sunday. The courtship of New Jersey Devils captain Zach Parise is expected to be at the top of the Kings' list. Making a hard push for the telegenic leader makes sense on many levels. The Kings' governor, AEG's Tim Leiweke, the man who brought soccer icon David Beckham to Los Angeles, has a history of going after the big names in the bright lights. The Kings have just enough cap room and a pressing need for scoring on the left side.

No one can take the Cup from LA but there is no way they will hold the Cup high this year. And I think it will be a struggle just to make the playoffs.

It'll be better if the Kings, not the Wings get Parise

"Making a hard push for the telegenic leader makes sense on many levels."

Telegenic leader? Is that what Parise's for? Photo ops? Who thinks these things up anyway?

But, if the Kings are thinking "telegenically," may I suggest .... Pierre McGuire? :-)
