Favre attempting to mend Packers fences

09:43 AM ET 07.01 | The other day when I spoke to Mark Murphy, the Packers president said he has not personally spoken to Brett Favre about returning to Green Bay for a number-retirement ceremony. But Murphy wants it to happen within the next couple of years. And it is going to happen. So fill up the comments section with all the anti-Favre smack you want, but my hunch is it's going to happen by 2014. Of course, it can't happen unless Favre wants it to happen. And you can bet No. 4 wants it to happen for all the right reasons, as well as for the way he could cash in and get the attention he craves. And let's face it, he's not getting a lot of attention now. You can tell he's missing the spotight because he's starting to give interviews again. I don't want to call this a "healing process" on Favre's part, because he pretty much instigated the mess in 2008, when the Packers told him they were going to start Aaron Rodgers that season. They said he could be No. 2 or retire, and then the fireworks began. I'm not sure if he's ever going to apologize for being a clown by flying in to defy and upstage the franchise during the inter-squad scrimmage, but he's finally starting to mend a few fences in the best way he knows how.

I think the writer beat us to it calling him a "clown."

It's from the Sentinel. It will take the loyal fans a whole lot longer to heal than Favre.

For many Green Bay faithful, all bridges were burned when he started wearing purple and playing for a team in the same division. It will be interesting to see.

He will, after his induction at Canton four years from now. He'll ride the self-promotion gravytrain as long as he can before then.

No one ever questioned his on the field show. He was a selfish, manipulating **** it. He yanked the Packers around for years with his I may/may not retire BS until after the draft for years. they got sick of it

Packer fans know class when they see it. Outside the lines, he did not have it. His junk is still in the mail most likely. A selfish jerk who happened to be one heckuva QB.

I only care about his playing. What ever else he did or does, doesn't effect me. If he jerked the packers around well I suspect that was mutual. If he mails picks of his dick to someone, well thats been done before. It was sad to see him marginalize himself in an effert to play a game he loved long after he should have hung up his cleats

Then perhaps the Packers fans should "get over it" There were a good number of coachs and owners that payed head game with him also. I am not saying he was right, but until you have to give up something you love you won't know what he went thru

Going through the pain of giving up a job you love is peanuts compared to having to give a child up for adoption. I'll save my tears for those moms instead.
