08:06 AM ET 07.02 | Portland restricted free agent Nicolas Batum was due to arrive in the Twin Cities Sunday to meet with Minnesota. [The Timberwolves] are expected to make him a four-year offer that could approach $50 million, according to league sources. Boston restricted free agent center Greg Stiemsma visited this morning and Los Angeles Lakers unrestricted free agent Jordan Hill is scheduled to visit Monday. Blazers kajillionaire Paul Allen can match any offer for Batum. Players can't sign anything until July 11. The Blazers then would have three days to match an offer sheet for Batum, a 6-8 Frenchman who's a natural small forward but can also play shooting guard.

Bad move. Why invest MORE $ on another forward?

It's just a change in philosophy. It used to be get all the point guards to play 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. But since that didn't work last season it's now changed to getting an all star forward team. Next year will be all center collection with Eddy Curry running the point in T'Wolves uniform with Darko at 2...

I thought the Lakers would be interested in Batum, guess not....I just dont see them paying Batum and trying to sign Hibbert to a 58mil deal.

Derrick Williams must be on his way out if they do this. They just brought in Budinger too. I guess D-Will will go down as another bust ala Wes Johnson. Part of me hope we keep D-Will another season or 2 to see if he can improve. But Wes Johnson is clearly done if they get Batum.

Does this mean the end of the road for Beasley? He used to be their answer at SF

I say risky, but worth the gamble. They have plenty of bigs, and Rubio should hold down the point.

Batum would fit perfectly.
