08:09 AM ET 07.02 | Steve Nash marked Canada Day by meeting with the Raptors, as well as the Knicks, in New York City. Monday could be Brooklyn Day, with the Nets celebrating by courting their own free agent point guard, Deron Williams, as well as Nash -- not to mention going deep into discussions with the Atlanta Hawks about a trade that would pair Joe Johnson with Williams in an All-Star Brooklyn backcourt. Williams will meet with the Nets and Dallas Mavericks Monday, and D-Will's resulting decision will be the domino that sends NBA free agency tumbling. The Brooklyn franchise has numerous other balls in the air, none bigger than a possible deal that would bring Johnson and the $90 million left on his contract over the next four years to help christen the Barclays Center next season.

I really hope they get something significant done this time. It's been so long since we heard big plans from the Nets but they always come up short.. good luck Nets, good luck Brooklyn... good morning fan nation! Happy Monday to all and to all a happy Monday!

They need something big to appease DWill. Maybe they're trying to smoke and mirror him by trying to represent a highly paid player as a high profile difference maker.

Knicks will be better off moving Melo. STAT is still a valuable piece. I can see the Lakers going after him if they miss out on Howard. Melo's style of play is not good for team work. He's the real problem that we need to address... with D'Antoni, Phil Jackson and George Karl calling that out it's clear Melo's a major problem. The Knicks/Miami series would have been more close if Melo passed the ball and read the game like an average player of his caliber will. He just doesn't have it... so the sooner Knicks get rid of him the more realistic they will get at being real competitors again. As constructed right now Knicks are a joke and will struggle to make the playoffs and get knocked out of the playoffs in 5 games or less.

Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard told Yahoo Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski that there's only one team with which he would sign an immediate extension if traded this offseason.
"There's only one team on my list and if I don't get traded there, I'll play the season out and explore my free agency after that," Howard told Wojnarowski...
Looks like Howard just became the Nets spokesman and gave DWill a reason to consider signing. That is unless Deron remembers how much Dwight stands by his word.

Oops. This is a CNNSI story from this morning and it did name the Nets as the only team Howard would sign an extension with.
Sorry!

Yeah, he is still owed 90 mil (which is freaking crazy). I cant see how this helps them in the slightest.

Howard is an idiot, maybe if he was so sure there was only one team he wanted to play for he shouldn't have opted in for another year.

He's a good defensive C, but for that money they can freaking have him.

Yep. Remember when he signed the extension? He said it was because he was loyal. Even DWade smirked when quoting Howard.
So, what happened to the loyalty? I don't consider dissing your team and telling the world you don't want to play for them as 'loyal'!
