08:19 AM ET 07.02 | Just ask Brandon Leone about the impact Kevin Sumlin is having at Texas A&M. As a former Aggie running back, Leone played under both R.C. Slocum and Dennis Franchione. As an analyst for TexAgs.com, he covered A&M football in the waning days of Mike Sherman's tenure. ... "When you look at the last three coaches at Texas A&M, you've got Mike Sherman, Dennis Franchione, R.C. Slocum ... And then Kevin Sumlin comes in, and I think he brings something different," Leone said on a podcast with blogger Aaron Torres. "He's young, he brings a little of that swagger to the table and the recruits are just loving it. The team is feeding off him. He's not afraid to rub shoulders with guys."

It's good that he can "rub shoulders with the guys" aka relating to the kids. Probably a good recruiting technique too.
Still has to stay on the other side of the line and let the the kids know where that line is.
JMO but I've seen this blow up too many times when coaches/teachers are viewed as "one of the guys" or something similar.

Aggie's always recruited more talent than TT! In fact, they've always recruited more talent than any Texas school sans UTx...and some years they even out recruited them. (One disclaimer-TCU probably out recruited them the past few years but I'll defer to the recruiting gurus on whether this is so or not.)

Sherman was a great recruiter - had the I can show you what it takes to play in the NFL card.
Recruits have never been the issue, its living up to expectations that always seem to get the aggys

THE MOST ridiculous forum and website on planet earth. Go take a look for yourself, Its worth the price of admission.

I keep hearing this. First it was Francione, then it was Sherman. One year ago, even 10 months ago Aggies were hailing Sherman's coaching and recruiting abilities. Then 6 losses and he is gone.
Maybe this time it will actually happen.

Shaggybevo? You venture into that place you better go hard or those guys will eat you alive.
Orangebloods? They dont' hold a candle to the ridiculous group-thinking, echo chamber, irrational, closed-minded, censor-happy, gooberness that is Texags.
I find the shag to be intentionally funny and Texags to be unintentionally so.

I'm hoping Mullen can get a permanent foot into N. La. and N.O. I know LUS will always have first pick, but they can only take so many. Maybe Arky can get back into TX more now that Aggy is on board. Mullen also needs to lock up MS Gulf kids that traditionally play anywhere but MS.

Aggies have the potential to be great as soon as their obsession changes from UTx to winning. Plus they need real cheerleaders :)
