08:24 AM ET 07.02 | Oklahoma-Texas has long been the Big 12's marquee football game, but with the Longhorns scuffling in recent seasons, Oklahoma State-Oklahoma took over for a bit. Now it's 2012, and with no Brandon Weeden or Justin Blackmon in the Cowboys' kaleidoscope orange, gray and black, and still no quarterback of substance in Austin, the Big 12 needs a new marquee game. And to the rescue comes conference realignment. On Nov. 17, amid Country Roads and Appalachian Mountains, the Sooners play at West Virginia in what very well could be the de facto Big 12 championship game. We've named it the No. 1 Big 12 game going into the 2012 season. ... Most preseason pundits have OU and West Virginia 1-2 or 2-1 in the Big 12.

The Oklahoman

The Oklahoman is an IDIOT. WVa vs OU may be the "marquee matchup" in the Big 12 this year, but it will take eons to replace the RRSO.

Next year? TCU can win the B12 easy enough this year with a few breaks.

Pit, I'm afraid "drug gate" cost them too much in the depth department in order to survive the year. However, if they have no injuries and don't have to go very deep, they should be hard to handle.

...and WVa got a real break on the schedule. They only have to play away Big 12 games at UTx, Tech, Okie Lite and Iowa State. Okie Lite lost a lot from last year and we all know the rusty cows haven't been too good lately.

FJJ, this fits my worst case scenario for the frogs season prognosis. But the only thing I know from this article is that someones going to be surprised by how the season turns out in the Big 12. I don't know who...but I'm always right. lol Go Frogs!

Don't know what to think if WVU. Same team that lost to Syracuse but spanked Clemson. I don't think their D is up to the task. JMO.

Should be better after a full year under Dana H.

A slap in the face for UTx. Total dissing. The gauntlet has been thrown down. This means war.

Love the underdog role

Um....no.

Exactly....RRSO will always be THE game in the Big XII for everyone outside the conference. Just like TSUN vs tOSU in teh B1G.....even when the teams aren't #1 and #2.....this is the game the casual fan will plan to watch.

IMO, WVA and TCU will have a hard time reaching potential first-year in.....different talent/competition level. They will struggle (just like Mizzou and TAMU)
