08:32 AM ET 07.02 | Jonathan Vilma's long and winding road with the Saints has added a few more miles. The latest [Vilma] lawsuit blows the whistle on many things regarding the bounty investigation. It also blows the whistle on the notorious whistleblower. Though it's been widely rumored that former Saints defensive assistant Mike Cerullo is the person who resurrected the bounty probe by reaching out to the league office in 2011, Vilma's civil complaint makes it clear that Vilma believes Cerullo created the present mess. Vilma also believes that Cerullo is acting out of spite. ... If Vilma's allegations are true, the bounty case against him and the other players has been seriously undermined.

Cerullo and Mangina should start a club of their own.

Quick and decisive action has taken a long, drawn-out turn. For some reason, this is turning more into Cheney's WMD search that I believe Brees referenced a week or two back.

Except Cheney never had ANY evidence there were WMD's. The NFL would lead us to believe they have audio tapes and confessions. Saints need to be very careful, they are opening up to salary cap violations with this team sanctioned bonus.....more fines/loss of draft picks.

So Vilma is blaming Cerullo for "creating the present mess?" Why? Because he reported it?

That's like saying Mike McQueary is responsible for the Jerry Sandusky "mess."

Sit down, shut up and take your punishment like a man, Jonathan.

I agree with you on this one. Vilma best be careful. Does he really want the details and names of corroborates to be made public? I suspect a lot of players would like it to lie quiet.
Brees is just covering his own a## so he can suit up in the same locker room with those other guys.

Ya don't see Payton or the ex DC demanding more info and a redo of it all. They know better.

Vilma is a POS...take the punishment you no talent hack...

Well Jonathon has spoken. That paragon of integrity and fair play has set the scene for utter and complete honesty. I certainly believe everything he says don't you? Bounty? I'm sure they were talking about paper towels. Nothing to it.

Sounds like a soap opera.

Not really a fair comparison 50. Sean Payton is still relatively young as far as head coaches go, so obviously he's going to kiss up and make up the lost revenue in the next 20 or more years, Vilma doesn't have that option so he's got to go for it in court.

Does he really expect to win? The legal fees are one thing, and I don't see his reputation coming out any better even if he prevails in court.

No, Jonathan, you can't sue your way into the Hall of Fame.

Vilma keeps looking worse and worse as this goes on. they had their chance to defend themselves, didn't bother showing up.

Next thing, they are suing because they couldn't defend themselves.

If this thing keeps going there going to make it a day-time soap opera....."The Days of Our Saints" or the "Bold & the Bountiful."

If he doesn't try he won't win for sure

Agreed. Vilma was probably hoping outing Cerullo would take some of the heat of of himself, but now he looks no better than Warren Sapp did after he (mistakenly) outed Jeremy Shockey as the whistleblower.

Somewhere out there is a lawyer who'd be willing to make a name for himself by trying...

I hope Vilma kicks Goodell's ass in Court.

How about we pass on the court thing. Put the two of them in a room with one knife. Whoever comes out alive is telling the truth
