The Jet landing in Boston?

08:08 AM ET 07.03 | The Celtics, thanks to being somewhat cornered by salary restrictions, may be out of the running for O.J. Mayo, but all is not grim on the free agent front in Boston. The Celtics continue to position themselves for a run at Jason Terry, though they will likely sign their own free agents first. The former Mavericks shooter -- the 2009 NBA Sixth Man of the Year -- reportedly is open to signing for the full mid-level exception, or approximately $5 million in the first year. The Celtics, who expect to be over the salary cap, which will be set at about $56 million, would qualify. Terry, who earned more than $11 million last year, has not ruled out playing for the full mid-level, according to a league source.

This is a good backup plan in case Ray Allen leaves but if he is willing to play for this amount of money why wouldn't he stay in Dallas?

The Celtics want Ray Allen back and for the moment they are in position to offer him the best deal, $12 million over two years, but they have competition. TNT's David Aldridge reports that Allen will meet with the Heat and Clippers and is also being pursued by the Grizzlies and Timberwolves.

Miami can only off the taxpayer mid-level, a contract that starts at just over $3 million annually. The Grizzlies and Clippers can offer the full mid-level, a contract that starts at $5 million annually.

contingent on what happens with D-Will. If they lose out on him Dallas is expected to make Terry an offer.

And so begins the rebuilding.

Considering the Celtics were within one game of the finals, a squad of KG, Rondo, Bradley, Pierce, Green, Sullinger, Melo, Terry and with Rivers at the Helm doesn't exactly sounds like rebuilding mode. Sounds more like making another run at a title to me, and that presuming they lose Allen, Bass and whomever else. If the Celtics fans have this team in place at the season's beginning, I wouldn't be worried at all. In fact, I'd be elated and say job well done.

I really couldn't assest what Green could do for this team because the times I did see him in the rotation he looked out of sorts, so how can you measure what he has done in Boston's system? Melo & Sully I doubt will come in and make a big difference. I think Stig or whatever his name is is looking to move and I haven't heard a word about Bass, hopefully they sign Bass and keep Ray or they will need to lure a guy like Terry

So many working parts going on here...

Terry would be smart to wait and see what dominos fall when Howard is traded.

If DH went to the Mavs and the Mavs were offering a decent deal for Terry, I would take it.

Going to Boston does not guarantee a thing because with Terry and no Allen, Boston is still 2nd fiddle to Miami and probably 3rd fiddle to Chicago when Rose is back...maybe even 4th if the Nets pull off the Howard sweepstakes.
