08:10 AM ET 07.03 | Here's what paying in the neighborhood of $14 million gets a basketball team these days: Baron Davis, Andre Iguodala, Manu Ginobili and Marc Gasol. All four made in the area of $14 million last season. Now, Roy Hibbert is in a position to make an average of $14 million a year, assuming -- and we're not assuming anything at this point -- the Indiana Pacers match the Portland Trail Blazers' four-year, $58 million offer sheet. ... When I spoke to team President Donnie Walsh on Monday, he sounded like a man squarely in the middle of a negotiation. Which he is. "We're either going to match or not match, but we're looking at all our options and looking at what else we might do," he said.

They will match that offer. You have to overpay for an above average center.

QUOTE(#4):

Ain't that the truth - To see "talents" like Kwame Brown and Darko still in the league brings back memories of Ostertag and Shawn Bradley who other then their size would never have been in the league.

I'll give Hibbert this... he's better than Bradley or Brown.

Agreed, a big who can actually score a little, rebound a little, and protect the rim. They have no other choice due to the poor state of the NBA center position.

Oh most definitely - I was just stating the fact that decent centers are going to be even more overpaid than the likes of Bradley or Brown.

I know, my friend. I was just taking the opportunity to take a shot at Shawn Bradley.

I ain't saying the dude stole money - there were owners stupid enough to give it to him. Including the local one.

Pacers are moving up in the East they better do whatever they can to lock Hibbert up, Big Athletic C's are hard to come by.

Hence the disclaimer of it being due to the sad state of the position...I mean 15 and 9 is considered an elite guy right now

You can't teach size.

Pacers did draft plumlee so they better sign BIG Roy. Otherwise, there won't be a playoff push next season.
