Threat of DL looms for Votto

08:15 AM ET 07.03 | The Reds aren't yet comfortable "going there" when it comes to the topic of Joey Votto's knee. He was out of the lineup for the second straight day Monday with an inflamed left knee. While Votto and Reds manager Dusty Baker don't seem overly concerned, the disabled list question has come up. Votto doesn't think the injury will require a stay on the DL. "That's always up to (trainer Paul Lessard) and the organization," Votto said. "But I would be very surprised if that was the case." Baker wouldn't even go there. "It's way too early," Baker said. "Way too early. We'll give him whatever time he needs. We're not even thinking about that yet." Votto originally injured the knee on Friday. He had to leave Saturday's game when it flared up.

Dusty I am glad that you have learn your lesson and going to take plenty of time with Votto. I bet Woods and Pryor wish you had done the same with them.

They certainly can't afford to lose Votto for any extended period of time.

I would sit him for the rest of the year to be safe.
