08:29 AM ET 07.03 | Shane Doan may be headed to overtime. A final decision on [Doan's] destination for the upcoming season could exceed the July 9 deadline set by the current Coyotes captain. Doan is expected to start negotiations next Monday, but there is no timeline for when he will pick and sign with a team, Doan's agent Terry Bross explained. "What people need to understand about this guy is it would have been very easy for me (on Sunday) to taken some of the teams I've spoken to and said, 'OK, let's get something done,'" said Bross, who began representing Doan in October 2011. "(Doan) especially said to me, 'Listen, we're not taking offers. You can tell teams I'm interested, but we're not even taking offers until we know what's happening at home.'"

Is it just me, or do the players (and by extrapolation the agents) have too much to say in these matters? I may be a bit naive, but I would think that being able to do this for a living should be pretty cool.

They had Pat Brisson on last night on the NHL channel. I would say he does have one of the coolest jobs, no doubt.

Shane, just admit that it's your wife making the call on this one...

Something just feels wrong to comment on a hockey article from the Arizona Republic

I read the whole article and July 9th is the deadline for a referendum on the Lease agreement with Glendale. Doan told his agent that if the Coyotes are staying in Glendale then he wants to come back. If they are moving, he's out of there. Can't say I disagree with him.

The league is skating on a ledge here !!! If the desert option craters now , how do they possibly set up a move in time for next year ? Perhaps the Buttgoblin knows the Fuhrer will cause a work stoppage and thus create extra time

They'll end up in the $490 million Seattle Arena (just waiting on the Sacramento Kings)

Would they all have to consult with Doan's wife?

So he wants to wait and make an informed decision on where his family is going to live. I say booo. Rash decisions. Make mistakes. Give us something to talk about.

They are FA's, it's the only time they are able to have a say. Team drafts him gets players rights for nearly a decade, bout time they get a say in....you know their life
