Spotlight falls on Showers at A&M

08:30 AM ET 07.04 | Even in losing a marquee name, some excitement is building for the Aggies behind Kevin Sumlin. Replacing Ryan Tannehill at quarterback for Texas A&M might be harder than once expected but that might be why the Aggies are targeting quarterbacks much different than Tannehill. Jameill Showers, the frontrunner for the starting spot, has a dual-threat aspect to his game while he also displayed a strong accuracy in the spring. His only competition would be red-shirt freshman Johnny Manziel who's stock took a hit when he was arrested last week. As [the Columbia Daily Tribune] writes, the duo of Showers and Manziel are one of the SEC's most interesting fill-in rolls to replace former stars for their team.

On a related note:

I hope Tannehill (A&M) tears it up in the NFL. Jeff Fuller, his #1 receiver, went undrafted and signed with Miami along with Tannehill and (coach) Sherman. Tannehill-to-Fuller was virtually unstoppable.

Stoopid Dallas (JJ) didn't even pursue Fuller. <head slap>
